Board of Trustees of the Historisches Kolleg

The Historisches Kolleg is managed by a twelve-member Board of Trustees, headed by a chairperson. The tasks of the Board of Trustees, which are laid down in the Statute of the Historisches Kolleg, include announcing fellowships, selecting fellows, and advising on matters of fundamental importance to the Historisches Kolleg.

Professor of Early Modern History at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main

born 1967, studied history and political science in Freiburg i. Br., doctorate 1999, habilitation 2002, 2010-2016 professor of early modern history at Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen, since 2017 chair of early modern history at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.

Professor of History with a focus on the history of Africa at the University of Bayreuth

born 1979, studied history and geography in Grenoble, Tübingen and Aix-en-Provence. PhD in 2011 in Modern History and African Studies in Paris and Leipzig. 2011-2018 research associate at the Humboldt University of Berlin. Since 2018 Professor of History with a focus on Africa at the University of Bayreuth. Principal investigator in the Cluster of Excellence “Africa Multiple”.

Professor of Eastern European History at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf

born 1972, studied Eastern European History, Political Science and German Studies in Bonn and Bochum; doctorate in 2003 and habilitation in 2014 in Bonn; professorships in Bremen and Munich, 2017-2022 Professor of Modern Eastern European History at the University of Göttingen, since 2022 Professor of Eastern European History at the University of Düsseldorf.

Professor of Ancient History at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main

born 1963, studied history, classical philology and education in Marburg, Heidelberg, Pavia and Rome, doctorate 1990 in Marburg, habilitation 1995 at the Free University of Berlin, since 2001 professor of ancient history in Frankfurt am Main. Editor of the Historische Zeitschrift, Millennium Jahrbuch and Studien, and Reallexikon für Antike und Christentum, among others, and review board member of the DFG. Winner of a Leibniz Prize 2015.

Professor of Medieval and Modern History at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen

born 1960, studied history and German language and literature in Freiburg i. Br., 1988 doctorate, 1998 habilitation; 1999 professor at the University of Bielefeld, since 2000 professor of Medieval and Modern History at the Georg-August-University of Göttingen; among others awarded the Prize of the Association of Historians of Germany, Visiting Professor at the University of California and Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. Full member of the Academy of Sciences in Göttingen, member of the Central Directorate of Monumenta Germaniae Historica.

born 1957, studied History and Romance Studies in Münster, Montpellier and Bielefeld, doctorate in Bielefeld, habilitation in Bochum; several substitute professorships and visiting professorship at the International University Bremen, since 2003 Professor of General History with special emphasis on Historical Political Research (19th and 20th century) at Bielefeld University.
