Februar ist der \u00c4gyptologe Jan Assmann verstorben. F\u00fcr seine vielf\u00e4ltigen und innovativen Forschungen wurde er 1998 mit dem Preis des Historischen Kollegs ausgezeichnet.<\/p><p>Johannes Fried betonte damals in seiner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historischeskolleg.de\/app\/uploads\/2022\/03\/1998_11_20_assmann_historikerpreis.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Laudatio<\/a>, dass die \u00c4gyptologie keineswegs im Zentrum des Forschungs- und Erkenntnisinteresses von Jan Assmann stehe, sondern ihm als Pr\u00fcfstein neuer kulturwissenschaftlicher Theorien diene, worauf Titel wie etwa \u201eSchrift und Ged\u00e4chtnis\u201c, \u201eKultur und Ged\u00e4chtnis\u201c, \u201eStudien zum Verstehen fremder Religionen\u201c verwiesen.<\/p><p>Assmanns <a href=\"https:\/\/www.historischeskolleg.de\/app\/uploads\/2022\/03\/1998_11_20_assmann_historikerpreis.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vortrag <\/a>bei der Preisverleihung durch den Bundespr\u00e4sidenten Roman Herzog am 20. November 1998 in der M\u00fcnchner Residenz trug den Titel \u201e\u00c4gypten in der Ged\u00e4chtnisgeschichte des Abendlandes\u201c. Gleich am Anfang stellte der Preistr\u00e4ger den Bezug zur Gegenwart her: \u201eJe ungeheuerlicher das Erinnerte, desto unvermeidlicher dr\u00e4ngt es in die Symbolik und in die \u00d6ffentlichkeit. Die Ged\u00e4chtnisgeschichte von Auschwitz f\u00e4ngt \u2013 nach Jahrzehnten des Schweigens \u2013 jetzt \u00fcberhaupt erst an, und sie wird so bald nicht enden. Denn diese Ereignisse betreffen nicht nur Juden und Deutsche, sondern die ganze Menschheit und stiften aufgrund ihrer Dimensionen ein Menschheitsged\u00e4chtnis\u201c.<\/p><p>Das Historische Kolleg wird Jan Assmann ein ehrendes Andenken bewahren.<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.faz.net\/aktuell\/feuilleton\/buecher\/jan-assmann-einflussreicher-aegyptologe-und-religionswissenschaftler-gestorben-19532701.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zum
